Medical School
Dr. Agraharkar earned her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 2013. While there, she earned the Herman Wortis award for excellence in psychiatry and neurology.
Training
She then went on to complete her adult psychiatry residency at NYU, where Dr. Agraharkar trained at a variety of sites including NYU Langone Hospital, Bellevue Hospital, and the Manhattan VA.
Dr. Agraharkar completed her child and adolescent psychiatry residency at NYU/Bellevue Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident of the Bellevue Children’s Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CCPEP). She also taught an undergraduate course on narrative medicine and mental illness.
Clinical affiliations
After finishing training, Dr. Agraharkar worked at Bellevue Hospital’s CCPEP along with New York City’s Administration for Children’s Services as psychiatric consultant. She served as the Interim Director for Bellevue’s CCPEP during the COVID-19 pandemic, and subsequently was the Associate Director. There, Dr. Agraharkar evaluated, diagnosed, and treated an array of mental health emergencies, and specialized in complicated psychiatric presentations. She continues to be a Clinical Assistant Professor at NYU and Bellevue.
Dr. Agraharkar is also an inpatient child and adolescent psychiatrist for Integrated Psychiatric Consultants. She provides telepsychiatry care to two inpatient units, where she serves youth in the midst of psychiatric crises.
She has also authored book chapters on sleep and children’s mental health along with emergency child psychiatry.
Certifications and Memberships
Dr. Agraharkar is board certified in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry.
She is an active member of the American Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
